Patrol Division

Protecting and Serving Our Community

Welcome to the Jacksonville Police Department's Patrol Division. Our dedicated team of officers is committed to safeguarding the lives and property of our residents, maintaining public order, and ensuring the safety and security of our community.

What We Do

The Patrol Division is the backbone of the Jacksonville Police Department, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our officers respond to a wide range of calls for service, including:

  • Emergency Response: Providing immediate assistance in critical situations, including accidents, medical emergencies, and criminal activities.
  • Crime Prevention: Conducting regular patrols to deter criminal behavior and ensure a visible police presence in all neighborhoods.
  • Community Policing: Building strong relationships with community members through outreach, education, and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Traffic Enforcement: Promoting road safety by enforcing traffic laws, investigating accidents, and managing traffic flow.
  • Public Assistance: Offering help and support in non-emergency situations, such as lost property, noise complaints, and welfare checks.

Specialized Units

In addition to normal patrol, the Patrol Division includes several specialized units to address specific needs within the community:

  • K-9 Unit: Specially trained dogs and their handlers assist in searches, drug detection, and suspect apprehension.
  • Special Response Team (SRT): A highly trained unit prepared to handle high-risk situations, such as hostage rescues and armed confrontations.
  • Emergency Response Team (ERT): Provides rapid response to critical incidents, ensuring swift and effective resolution.

Our Approach

At the heart of our approach is a commitment to community-oriented policing. We believe in working closely with the residents of Jacksonville to identify and address the root causes of crime and disorder. By fostering trust and cooperation, we aim to create a community where everyone feels safe and valued.
