Highway 67 Phase 3 Widening Project
Please come back for future updates regarding lane closures and redirection detours regarding the ongoing Highway 67 (future I-57) widening from four (4) lanes to six (6) lanes.
March 12, 2026 Update: Portion of Vandenberg Boulevard underneath overpass to temporarily close nightly from 8 p.m. Sunday, March 15 to 5 a.m. Saturday, March 21
A temporary closure of Vandenberg Boulevard between John Harden Drive and N First Street is scheduled nightly from 8 p.m. Sunday, March 15 to 5 a.m. Saturday, March 21. Weather permitting, crews will close this portion below Highway 67/167 (I-57) to allow for beam placement for the new overpass.
Signed detours will be in place to navigate around the closure. See the detour map below for more information.
To reach the east side of the closure
> Traffic will take John Harden Drive south to the N James Street bridge and cross over to access TP White Drive east of Highway 67/167 (I-57).
To reach the west side of the closure
> Traffic will take N First Street south to the new Gregory Street overpass and cross over to access John Harden Drive or Marshall Road west of Highway 67/167 (I-57).
November 10, 2025 Update: Portion of Vandenberg Boulevard underneath overpass to temporarily close from 8 p.m. November 14 to 5 a.m. November 17
A temporary closure of Vandenberg Boulevard between John Harden Drive and TP White Drive is scheduled from 8 p.m. Friday, November 14 through 5 a.m. Monday, November 17. Weather permitting, crews will close this portion below Highway 67/167 (I-57) to allow for demolition of the old overpass.
Signed detours will be in place to navigate around the closure. See the detour map below for more information.
Vandenberg Boulevard to east of Highway 67/167 (I-57)
> Traffic will take John Harden Drive south to the N James Street bridge and cross over to access east of Highway 67/167 (I-57).
Vandenberg Boulevard/N First Street to west of Highway 67/167 (I-57)
> Traffic will take N First Street south to Second Street, turn west on W Main Street, go north on N James Street, turn west on Gregory Street and proceed on Marshall Road to access west of Highway 67/167 (I-57).
Accommodations will be made to allow emergency vehicles to access the closed road.
July 11, 2025 Update: Overnight closures scheduled for July 11 through July 18 along Highway 67/167 (I-57)
The southbound lanes of Highway 67/167 (I-57) and John Harden Drive between Vandenberg Boulevard and North James Street will close for overnight bridge work Sunday night, July 13, through Wednesday morning, July 16 (weather permitting). Closures will occur in 15-minute increments from 10 p.m. each night through 6 a.m. each morning.
Additionally, southbound and northbound lanes of Highway 67/167 (I-57) will be periodically reduced to one lane in each direction overnight (8 p.m. to 6 a.m.) from Friday night, July 11, through Friday morning, July 18.
March 28, 2025 Update: Portion of southbound traffic lanes to shift onto new pavement; N. James Street northbound on-ramp to close until spring 2026.
The southbound lanes of Highway 67/167 (I-57) between Vandenberg Boulevard (Exit 11A) and the N. James Street bridge will require shifting onto new pavement from 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 1 through 5 a.m. Wednesday, April 2. Existing lanes will move onto new pavement and the new southbound Vandenberg overpass.
Additionally, the northbound on-ramp at the N. James Street will close temporarily beginning at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 2. The on-ramp will remain closed until Spring 2026. TP White Drive traffic needing to access Highway 67-167 (I-57) northbound will continue along TP White Drive to the on-ramp north of Vandenberg Boulevard.
March 6, 2025 Update: Northbound lanes between Main Street and North James Street to close for sixteen hours on Friday, March 7 and Saturday, March 8.
A full closure of the Highway 67/167 (I-57) northbound lanes between Main Street and North James Street will take place from 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 7 through 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 8. This closure will allow crews to conduct drainage improvements.
Northbound traffic will detour to Main Street (Exit 9), continue on the frontage road (T P White Drive) and use the North James Street on-ramp to access Highway 67/167 (I-57) northbound.
January 24, 2025 Update: Intersection of Gregory Street and John Harden Drive to close until the end of 2025.
Gregory Street between John Harden Drive and Johnson Street will be closed from Tuesday, January 28 through the end of 2025.
The Gregory Street closure at its connection with John Harden Drive will allow crews to construct the new Gregory Street overpass. Access to the surrounding businesses will be accessible from John Harden Drive. Traffic will use local roads to navigate around the closure.
December 3, 2024 Update: N. James Street exit ramp (Exit 10A) to close permanently at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3
The southbound N. James Street off-ramp (Exit 10A) will be closed permanently beginning at 8 p.m. tonight Tuesday, December 3. Crews will close Exit 10A to allow for the construction of a new off-ramp.
Traffic wishing to access N. James Street and surrounding areas will be directed to use either the Vandenberg Boulevard (Exit 11) or Main Street (Exit 9) off-ramps.
November 22, 2024 Update: Portion of 67/167 (I-57) southbound lanes to close at 8 p.m. on Friday, November 22; intermittent, overnight full closures of 67/167 (I-57) northbound and southbound lanes nightly from Sunday, November 24 through Tuesday, November 26
Starting at 8 p.m. on Friday, November 22, southbound lanes between the North James Street on- and off-ramps will be closed and will reopen once traffic has been shifted onto new pavement. Traffic will exit at North James Street (Exit 10A) to the frontage road (John Harden Drive) and return to the highway at the next on-ramp.
From 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly Sunday, November 24 through Tuesday, November 26, all northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 67/167 (I-57) at North James Street (Exit 10A) will be temporarily stopped for up to 15 minutes at a time to allow crews to perform bridge work. Traffic will exit at North James Street (Exit 10A) to the frontage road and return to the highway at the next on-ramp to bypass the 15-minute delays for the northbound and southbound lanes.
October 24, 2024 Update: Vandenberg Boulevard (under the overpass) to be closed nightly from Sunday, October 27 to Friday, November 1.
Construction to widen Highway 67 to six lanes between Main Street and Vandenberg Boulevard requires overnight closures of Vandenberg Boulevard between John Harden Drive and TP White Drive from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night from Sunday, October 21 to Friday, November 1.
Weather permitting, during the closures, crews will place bridge beams for the new Vandenberg Boulevard overpass for Highway 67.
Accommodations will be made to allow emergency vehicles to access the closed road. Signed detours will be in place to navigate around the closure. See the attached map for more information.

August 14, 2024 Update: Two-night closure scheduled for southbound James Street exit ramp
The Highway 67 southbound exit ramp at James Street (Exit 10A) will be closed from 8 p.m. Thursday, August 15 to 5 a.m. Friday, August 16 and 8 p.m. Friday, August 16 to 5 a.m. Saturday, August 17. Weather permitting, crews will close the exit ramp to perform construction on the new main lanes.
Highway 67 southbound traffic needing to exit at James Street will need to exit at Vandenberg Boulevard (Exit 11).
August 9, 2024 Update: New Gregory Street on-ramp to open on Monday, August 12; temporary N. James Street on-ramp to close
A permanent traffic pattern change at the Gregory Street southbound on-ramp will occur, beginning Monday, August 12.
Crews will open the new Gregory Street on-ramp. The new on-ramp will be north of Gregory Street near Parrish Street and may be accessed by traveling south on John Harden Drive. The temporary on-ramp that was opened south of N. James Street will be CLOSED.
July 23, 2024 Update: Gregory Street southbound on-ramp to close until late 2024
Construction to widen Highway 67 to six lanes between Main Street and Vandenberg Boulevard requires the closing of the Highway 67 southbound on-ramp at Gregory Street from 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 24 until late 2024.
Crews will close the Gregory Street on-ramp to Highway 67 southbound to allow access of the new permanent ramp at Gregory Street. Traffic wishing to access Highway 67 southbound can follow the signed detour.
Gregory Street to Highway 67 southbound detour:
> Traffic will take Gregory Street to Marshall Road, continue to the Main Street intersection and take the on-ramp to Highway 67 southbound.
June 25, 2024 Update: Gregory Street exit ramp to close, temporary N. James Street exit to open on Highway 67 northbound, in place until late 2025
Construction to widen Highway 67 to six lanes between Main Street and Vandenberg Boulevard requires the closing of northbound Exit 10B at Gregory Street and the opening of a temporary exit ramp at N. James Street, beginning at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 27 and remaining in place until late 2025.
Traffic will use the temporary Highway 67 northbound Exit 10A (N. James Street) ramp.
May 3, 2024 Update: Overnight, intermittent lane closures are scheduled for northbound and southbound lanes for 15 minutes at various times between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., beginning on Monday, May 6 and ending on Sunday, May 12.
Construction requires intermittent closures of all lanes, northbound and southbound directions between Main Street and Vandenberg Boulevard. Weather permitting, crews will stop northbound and southbound lanes for 15 minutes at various times between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. to hang bridge birders at N. James Street.
April 9, 2024 Update: New traffic pattern scheduled on John Harden Drive to start Wednesday, April 10 and remain in place through Wednesday, May 31.
Weather permitting, crews will detour John Harden Drive southbound traffic to Quince Hill Road and North First Street to allow pavement operations along the frontage road. Traffic will follow the signed detour. See the detour map for more information. The new traffic pattern will start Wednesday, April 10 and remain in place through Friday, May 31.
John Harden Drive northbound will be open to traffic. Access will remain open to businesses along this stretch of John Harden Drive, although some temporary alternate entrances may be utilized during this construction stage.
March 26, 2024 Update: Traffic shift and indefinite ramp closure scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, March 27.
Weather permitting, crews will shift Highway 67 northbound traffic between Main Street (Exit 9) and Vandenberg Boulevard (Exit 11A) from the existing main lanes onto new pavement adjacent to the Highway 67 southbound lanes. This shift is scheduled from 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 27 through 5 a.m. Thursday, March 28.
Highway 67 northbound traffic will periodically be detoured during any main lane closures required to make the shift. See the first detour map for more information.

> Take Exit 9 (Main Street)
> Continue along TP White Drive
> Take the Highway 67 on-ramp north of Vandenberg Boulevard
Additionally, the Highway 67 southbound Exit 9 ramp (Main Street) will close indefinitely beginning at 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 27. Traffic will use the newly re-opened Highway 67 southbound Exit 10A (N James Street) ramp to access Main Street. See the second detour map for more information.
March 22, 2024 Update: New traffic patterns are scheduled on John Harden Drive.
Weather permitting, crews will shift John Harden Drive traffic onto new pavement adjacent to the existing frontage road. In addition, the on-ramp to Highway 67 south of Vandenberg Boulevard will be permanently closed. Traffic wishing to access Highway 67 southbound will follow the signed detours along John Harden Drive and take the Gregory Street on-ramp. Please see the attached map below for more information. The traffic pattern switch will happen between 8 p.m. Monday, March 25 and 5 a.m. Tuesday, March 26.
Additionally, the Texas U-turn from John Harden Drive to TP White Drive at W Main Street will be closed from 8 a.m. Monday, March 25 through 5 p.m. Monday, April 1.
February 8, 2024 Update #1: Traffic pattern changes at three intersections along Vandenberg Boulevard and N First Street are scheduled Monday, February 12 through Friday, March 8.
Temporary traffic signals will be installed and activated at the intersections of Vandenberg Boulevard and John Harden Drive, Vandenberg Boulevard and TP White Drive and N First Street and N JP Wright Loop Road. This work will alternate between intersections over a six-week period, starting with the Vandenberg Boulevard and John Harden Drive intersection and proceeding east.
Work to install and activate the temporary traffic signals will occur during daytime hours with crews working to avoid peak traffic hours. This work will require temporary lane closures and flagging operations. The public is encouraged to find alternate routes as traffic delays are expected.
February 8, 2024 Update #2: Parrish Street at John Harden Drive (next to Walmart) is scheduled to be closed from Monday, February 12 through Friday, May 31.
This closure will allow construction crews to perform paving operations and retaining wall work. No detour is required since access to Walmart will be maintained from John Harden Drive (the main entrance).
February 7, 2024 Update: A single daytime closure of southbound ramp Exit 10B (Gregory Street) is scheduled for Saturday, February 10 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Weather permitting, ARDOT crews will close the Gregory Street exit ramp to perform drainage work. Southbound traffic needing to use the Gregory Street exit is encouraged to use either Exit 11 (Vandenberg Boulevard) or Exit 9 (Main Street).
January 31, 2024 Update: Closure of N. Bailey Boulevard between TP White Drive and Monroe Drive has been extended through Thursday, February 29, 2024.
Traffic wishing to access N. Bailey Boulevard will need to follow the signed detours.

January 2, 2024 Update: Periodic overnight lane closures of Highway 67 between Main Street and Vandenberg Boulevard will occur in January, February and March.
Single lanes will be closed periodically overnight as needed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Tuesday, January 2 through Sunday, March 31. One lane of traffic in each direction will remain open during the work.
October 20, 2023 Update: N. Bailey Boulevard between TP White Drive and Monroe Drive will be closed from October 24 through January 31, 2024.
Traffic wishing to access N. Bailey Boulevard will need to follow the signed detours. Please see the attached map for more information.

October 17, 2023 Update: The full closure of the N. James Street Bridge will begin Monday, October 23, and will last approximately one year. Exit 10A will also be closed during this time. Exit 10B (Gregory Street) and Exit 9 (Main Street) will remain open.
Traffic on N. James Street will need to follow the signed detours around the closed bridge. Please see the attached map for more information.

*Traffic needing access to N. James Street (north of the bridge) may use Main Street, Marshall Road and Gregory Street
*Traffic needing access to N. James Street (south of the bridge) may use Gregory Street, Marshall Road and Main Street

Southbound Exit 10A traffic detour:
*Traffic needing to access John Harden Drive and N. James Street (north of the bridge) may use Exit 10B (Gregory Street) and Gregory Street
*Traffic needing to access TP White Drive and N. James Street (south of the bridge) may use Exit 10B (Gregory Street), Gregory Street, Marshall Road and Main Street
September 29, 2023 Update: As needed, ARDOT crews will alternately close inside or outside lanes of northbound and southbound Highway 67 between Main Street and Vandenberg Boulevard.
Single lanes will be closed periodically overnight as needed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Sunday, October 1 through Sunday, December 31. One lane of traffic will be open in each direction during the work.
No lane closures during the following times:
*5 a.m. Wednesday, November 22 - 8 p.m. Monday, November 27 (due to the Thanksgiving holiday)
*5 a.m. Friday, December 22 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 26 (due to the Christmas holiday)
*5 a.m. Friday, December 29 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 2 (due to the New Year's holiday)
September 22, 2023 Update: Weather permitting, ARDOT crews will temporarily close Hill Street at its connection with TP White Drive from Monday, September 25 through Friday, September 29.
Traffic wishing to access Hill Street will need to follow the signed detours. Please see the attached map for additional information.

September 14, 2023 Update #2: Beginning Monday, September 18, ARDOT crews will temporarily close Tag and Hill streets through Friday, September 22 and Monday, September 25, respectively.
Tag Street will be closed at its connection with John Harden Drive through Friday, September 22.
*To access Tag Street, traffic can follow detour signs from John Harden Drive to N. James Street, Gregory Street, and then Johnson Street. Please see the attached map for more information.
Hill Street will be closed at its connection with TP White Drive through Monday, September 25. Traffic wishing to access Hill Street will need to follow the signed detours.
*To access Hill Street from TP White Drive, traffic will use N. Bailey Boulevard.
*To access Hill Street from N. James Street, traffic will use Martin Street and N. Bailey Boulevard.
September 14, 2023 Update #1: Construction to widen Highway 67 to six lanes between Main Street and Vandenberg Boulevard in Jacksonville requires changes to Highway 67 northbound exit ramps at Gregory Street and Vandenberg Boulevard Friday, September 15.
Weather permitting, crews will permanently close the Highway 67 northbound Vandenberg Boulevard exit ramp (Exit 11A). Crews will also modify the Gregory Street exit ramp (Exit 10B) to allow exiting traffic to continue onto TP White Drive without stopping (TP White Drive traffic will now stop and yield to exiting vehicles). Please see the attached map below for more information.
September 11, 2023 Update: Construction to widen Highway 67 between Main Street and Vandenberg Boulevard requires the closure of the N. James Street Bridge over Highway 67 in late October. This closure is expected to be in place for a year.
Weather permitting, ARDOT crews will close the N. James Street Bridge over Highway 67 to demolish and reconstruct the overpass. In addition, the Highway 67 southbound N. James Street exit ramp (Exit 10A) will also be closed during this time. Detours will be in place to navigate around the closures.
Additional information will be shared prior to the closures once the exact date and detours have been confirmed.
September 5, 2023 Update: Changes to Highway 67 northbound exit ramps at Gregory Street and Vandenberg Boulevard require changes in mid-September.
Weather permitting, ARDOT crews will permanently close the Highway 67 northbound Vandenberg Boulevard exit ramp (Exit 11A). Crews will also modify the Gregory Street exit ramp (Exit 10B) to allow exiting traffic to continue onto TP White Drive without stopping (TP White Drive traffic will now stop and yield to exiting vehicles) (see attached map below).
Traffic is encouraged to take the following routes:
Highway 67 northbound traffic accessing John Harden Drive
*Take the Gregory Street exit (Exit 10B)
*Continue north onto TP White Drive
*West on Vandenberg Boulevard
*South on John Harden Drive

*Take the Air Force Base exit (Exit 11B)
*South on TP White Drive
*West on Vandenberg Boulevard
Additional information will be shared once an exact date has been confirmed.
August 30, 2023 Update: Weather permitting, ARDOT crews will close TP White Drive just south of N. James Street from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 1. The Highway 67 on-ramp south of N. James Street will remain open. This closure will allow construction crews to perform drainage work for the widening of Highway 67.
TP White Drive traffic wishing to access N. James Street or continue on TP White Drive will follow the signed detour (see attached map below).
August 25, 2023 Update: Weather permitting, ARDOT crews will close Hill Street at its connection with TP White Drive starting on Monday, August 28 through Friday, September 1. This will allow construction crews to perform intersection work for the widening of Highway 67.
Traffic wishing to access Hill Street will need to follow the signed detours listed below:

August 8, 2023 Update: Weather permitting, ARDOT crews will remove the traffic signal lights at TP White Drive and Madden Road and convert the intersection to a three-way stop on Wednesday, August 9. This will allow crews to continue constructing the new roadway.
This traffic pattern is expected to remain in place into 2024.
August 4, 2023 Update: Weather permitting, ARDOT crews will close Tag Street at its connection with John Harden Drive Monday August 7 through Thursday, August 10.
This will allow construction crews to perform pavement removal and reconstruction. To access Tag Street, traffic can follow detour signs from John Harden Drive to N. James Street, Gregory Street and then Johnson Street.
Traffic will be controlled with message boards, traffic drums and detour signs. The public is advised to be cautious when traveling in the work zone and watch for slower traffic speeds.
July 26, 2023 Update: Weather permitting, ARDOT crews will close Ramada Street at its connection with TP White Drive from Friday, July 28 through Wednesday, August 2. Crews will also close John Hardin Drive at its connection with John Harden Drive from Monday, July 31 through Friday, August 4.
To access Ramada Street, traffic can follow detour signs from TP White Drive to James Street and Vine Street.
To access TP White Drive from Ramada Street, traffic can follow Vine Street to Main Street.
To access John Hardin Drive, traffic can take adjacent road, Braden Street.
Traffic will be controlled with message boards, traffic drums and detour signs. The public is advised to be cautious when traveling through the work zone and to be mindful of slower traffic speeds.
July 7, 2023 Update: Weather permitting, ARDOT crews will close Braden Street at its connection with John Harden Drive Monday, July 10 through Monday, July 17.
To access Braden Street, traffic can take John Hardin Drive. Detours will be signed. Please be cautious when traveling through the work area and be mindful of slower traffic speeds.
June 30, 2023 Update #1: Construction to widen Highway 67 to six lanes between Main Street and Vandenberg Boulevard in Jacksonville requires a traffic pattern change at the northbound Exit 11A (Vandenberg Boulevard) ramp.
Weather permitting, crews will modify the existing Highway 67 northbound Exit 11A (Vandenberg Boulevard) exit ramp on July 5. This traffic pattern change will allow exiting traffic to continue onto TP White Drive toward the Vandenberg Boulevard intersection without stopping (TP White Drive will now yield to exiting vehicles). See map below for additional information.
To improve traffic flow at the Vandenberg Boulevard intersections with the frontage roads and to keep traffic from backing up on Highway 67 northbound, drivers are encouraged to take the following exits to the Little Rock Air Force Base and John Harden Drive:
*Highway 67 northbound traffic accessing John Harden Drive takes Exit 11A (Vandenberg Boulevard) and stays in the left lane.
*Highway 67 northbound traffic accessing the Little Rock Air Force Base takes Exits 8 (Redmond Road), 9 (Main Street) or 11B (Air Force Base).
June 30, 2023, Update #2: Construction to widen Highway 67 to six lanes between Main Street and Vandenberg Boulevard in Jacksonville will require periodic nighttime lane closures over the next few months.
Weather permitting, crews will alternatively close the northbound and southbound outside lanes of Highway 67 between Main Street and Vandenberg Boulevard to patch existing pavement, work on the median retaining wall, and perform median paving operations.
Single lanes will be closed overnight as needed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Saturday, July 1 through Saturday, September 30. One lane of traffic will be open in each direction during the work. No main lane interstate closures are scheduled during the Fourth of July (5 a.m. on Monday, July 3 through 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 5) or Labor Day (5 a.m. on Friday, September 1 through 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5) holidays.
June 7, 2023, Update: Construction to widen Highway 67 to six lanes between Main Street and Vandenberg Boulevard in Jacksonville requires a single-day closure of southbound ramp Exit 10A (North James Street).
Highway 67 southbound traffic needing to exit at North James Street is encouraged to instead use Exit 11 (Vandenberg Boulevard), Exit 10B (Gregory Street) or Exit 9 (Main Street).
Weather permitting, crews will close this ramp from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday, June 9.
June 2023 Update: Construction to widen Highway 67 to six lanes between Main Street and Vandeberg Boulevard requires a temporary detour of John Harden Drive to perform drainage work. Detour signs will be posted on Braden Street.
Weather permitting, this section is expected to be closed from Tuesday, June 6 to Friday, June 30.
Construction to widen Highway 67 to six lanes between Main Street and Vandenberg Boulevard in Jacksonville requires the permanent closure of the Hill Street connection to John Harden Drive.
Weather permitting, crews will close the Hill Street connection to John Harden Drive Sunday, May 21. This is a permanent closure. This closure is part of the frontage road improvements taking place on John Harden Drive and TP White Drive.
